I want to share one of my favorite TED talks. This one by Paul Bloom does a great job of explaining one of the ways we place value on the things around us.

we don’t just respond to things as we see them, or feel them, or hear them. Rather, our response is conditioned on our beliefs, about what they really are, what they came from, what they’re made of, what their hidden nature is.

As leaders of organizations, businesses, and causes we do what we do because we see the value in what we offer. Unfortunately not everyone sees that value, or they see a different value. We seek to find the story that people value, the story with meaning and truth, and tell it in a way that will create a connection.
